The company
Our client is a global leader in medical technology whose equipment is used every day in hospitals across the UK. Their mission is to enhance surgical precision and patient outcomes through state of the art technology. Due to continued growth in their surgical business, they are looking for a proactive and experienced Senior Territory Manager to drive growth across the South West and build strong, lasting relationships with customers.
The opportunity
You will be responsible for promoting and selling a portfolio of surgical devices and surgical endoscopy imaging products across your territory. The role involves engaging with surgeons, theatre teams and procurement, providing technical expertise, and supporting clinical teams to make sure the products are used to their full potential.
Your mission is to develop sales within your territory: prospecting for new customers, managing and growing your client portfolio, and presenting the product range to define solutions tailored to the needs of each customer, testing their technical feasibility along the way. On the front line, you will represent the image of the business to current and potential customers.
This is a senior role that combines strategic territory planning with hands on clinical support, from the first demonstration through to commissioning, training and post sales support. What matters most is a strong record in medical device sales and a good understanding of how the NHS buys.
What you will be doing
- Developing and implementing strategic territory plans to achieve sales targets
- Prospecting for new customers and managing and growing your client portfolio across the territory
- Building and maintaining relationships with surgeons, theatre teams, hospital staff and procurement
- Developing and delivering customer sales presentations that match customer requirements and clearly communicate solutions and value propositions
- Presenting the product range and offering, and defining solutions tailored to the needs of each customer by testing their technical feasibility
- Conducting product demonstrations and training sessions for clinical teams
- Delivering post sales training, commissioning and support for new and existing customers across the portfolio
- Providing technical support and after sales service to customers
- Collaborating with marketing and clinical teams to maximise market penetration
- Representing the business on the front line with current and potential customers, and at face to face and virtual exhibitions, workshops and educational meetings
- Staying informed on industry trends, competitor activity and regulatory changes
- Managing your diary effectively to maximise customer interactions, and keeping the CRM and sales database up to date
- Ensuring the validity of orders in line with company policy and within your delegated authority
- Providing information to the back office and forwarding all necessary details to the sales administration team
- Forecasting sales opportunities accurately and regularly
- Ensuring compliance with all healthcare regulations and company policies
Additional Senior Territory Manager responsibilities
- Bringing advanced selling skills and strong technical product knowledge to complex deals
- Sharing market intelligence with management and product teams
- Mentoring new starters and contributing actively to the wider team
What we are looking for
- At least 3 years of successful field sales experience in medical devices, ideally surgical, theatre based or endoscopy products
- Situated within the territory region
- A solid understanding of NHS procurement, including frameworks, tenders, business cases and approval processes
- Confidence working in theatre and providing technical support to clinical teams
- Highly skilled in organising and planning multiple demands and priorities
- Clear and concise written and spoken communication, with strong negotiation and problem solving skills
- Self motivated, with a strong will to succeed and a focus on exceptional customer satisfaction
- High levels of integrity in dealings with external and internal customers
- A commitment to continuous personal improvement and development
- A degree is desirable but not essential
- Full UK driving licence
